Google Business Cards

To promote the public profile pages, Google started to offer 250,000 free business cards in the US (the link only works in the US). "We are giving away 10,000 sets of 25 Google profile business cards totally free. Have a little fun and show off your profile," suggests Google.

Google's business cards are less conventional, since they only include a search box pre-filled with your name and a link to your profile page. If you have a public profile that's searchable, Google will include it at the bottom of the search results page for your name.

Search Engine Land reports that Google uses iPrint's technology to print the business cards. "The offer is only available in the continental U.S., and Google says the cards should arrive within 10-12 days."

The idea is far from new, but the addition of an OneBox for profile search is a big incentive to create a profile and to manage your online reputation.

  1. This is so close to an idea expressed a couple years ago I'm tempted to think they stole it. Oh well, I have to admit IT"S a GREAT IDEA!

Next step, also from years ago, put enough distinct fields in the profile so that you could generate a resume as well, possibly in one of several standard formats.

    Go for it Google!

  6. Errr... 25 times 10,000 is 250,000, not 25,000, isn't it?

  7. My public profile was already active. I de/reactivated it but did not get any offer; visiting the linked page just gives a 404.

  11. www.whzzz.com is another way to create an online visiting card. Check out a sample profile under www.whzzz.com/law/newyork/basketball

With whzzz YOU control what online content is connected to your whzzz site, meaning your online visiting card.

To define yourself you select a unique combination of three symbols. Symbols represent different aspects such as interest, origin, taste, profession, school, personality, hobbies...

www.whzzz.com is NOT for everyone. Find out for yourself: www.whzzz.com
